Leading Chinese Economist joins the Hall as an OXCEP Visiting Fellow this summer
St Edmund Hall
April 8, 2015
Leading Chinese Economist Professor Xiaobo Zhang, Vice Dean of the National School of Development (NSD) in Peking University, will join the College
community for part of the Michaelmas and Hilary term period, on an OXCEP St Edmund Hall Visiting Fellowship.
Professor Zhang is one of China's best and most original economists, and has an excellent international reputation. He also holds an appointment at
the International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington DC, where he has been a Fellow for several years.
He will spend his time in Oxford working to complete research on a book on industrial clustering by location (a powerful phenomenon in China), by
examining the same phenomenon in early British industrialisation. During his visit he also plans to organise an OXCEP workshop on industrial clustering,
bringing together top researchers on the subject.
Oxford Chinese Economy Programme (OXCEP), who already run regular forums, workshops and lectures at the Hall, fund the OXCEP St Edmund Hall Visiting
Fellowship for Visiting Fellows in Economics, or closely related disciplines.
